Tej Rae is a freelance writer who taught high school English for 15 years before transitioning to journalism and fiction. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, BBC Focus on Africa magazine, The National newspaper in UAE, YogaLife Middle East, The Wheelhouse Review, Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood, Eunoia Review, Romeing, Spittoon and Fiction365, among others. Tej travels with her work for the United Nations. Since 1999, she has lived in Zambia, Senegal, Dubai, Rome and Ethiopia. In Senegal, she helped establish Africa's first children's museum, ImagiNation Afrika.
