Elena Olsen grew up on an island near Seattle, WA, and earned her PhD in English from the University of Washington. She is now a high school teacher in Kirkland, WA. Elena co-authored a textbook on environmental restoration and sustainability. She is outside as often as she can be, hiking and skiing the Northwest mountains, and walking the rainy Seattle streets.
